Atlas Beetle Museum Display

Nancy Greig, Ph. D. curator of entomology at the amazing Cockrell
Butterfly Center in Houston, Texas contacted us to create an oversized Atlas Beetle for an exhibit.
For accuracy, we were provided with an exoskeleton of the beetle.
We
digitally scanned the beetle using our 3D laser scanner, and routed out the parts of the beetle with our CNC router.
An elaborate armature was created to support the beetle.
The legs were hand sculpted over the metal armature.
