Domain Whooping Crane Sculpture

Phil Matton, from Simon Properties, contacted us about their exciting retail/living development, "The Domain", in north Austin.
He wanted to
see what we could make for their lavish outdoor atmoshpere.
He liked the 12 foot tall Blue Heron we had created for the Edinburg World Birding Center, and decided a 12 foot tall Whooping Crane would be a perfect detail in one of their many fountain areas.
In order to support the huge sculpture it was decided to add metal
cattails.
These plants also add a wonderful splash of color to the sculpture.
In order to create these cattails we worked in coordination with metal artist, Todd Cambell at Fisterra Studio.
Todd
designed and constructed these plants, and we painted them here in our studio.
This development worked with many artist in Austin, TX, to create a truly unique retail/living environment. |
